There seems to be a perception attached to the word “custom”. Suddenly you think of MTV’s Cribs and the custom bathtub that fits 10 people. Or maybe you picture the custom wedding dress that your cousin chose over a down payment for a house. It makes sense, then, that when you hear about custom jewelry your mind and wallet cringe. Well, we are here to completely change that perception.
At Goldworks, custom simply means that we will work our fingers to the bone (sometimes quite literally) to ensure you get exactly what you want. Sure, that could mean parting with quite a few of those hard earned dollars, it is jewelry after all, but we have over 90 years of combined experience in the jewelry industry. That means there are thousands of hours of problem solving, creative designing, and perseverance working to figure out a way to create an amazing piece of jewelry within your budget. Here are a few ways we make you comfortable and your wallet happy:
- It’s all about the design! A lot of the cost comes from the design process and the time it takes to actually make the piece of jewelry. The more complicated a design, the longer it takes our designers to create the CAD (computer aided design) rendering and more time has to be spent in the workshop putting it together. So, one of the easiest and quickest ways to save some cash is to keep things simple.
- Got any old or heirloom jewelry? We LOVE using your grandmother’s diamond or your dad’s old wedding band to create something new. Our process allows us to design jewelry with your gemstones, as well as melt down the gold or silver from your heirloom pieces. This is a win-win for you as not only do you save some money on materials, but you also get to have part of your past in your new ring. Grandma will always be with you cheering your victories and nagging the occasional bad habit.
- So it’s true that diamonds can cost quite a bit of money. There are ways, however, that we can acquire the perfect stone for any budget. Making small adjustments on size and quality will make huge differences on price. Our GIA Graduate Gemologist can answer any questions regarding the perfect diamond or, if diamonds don’t suit your fancy, gemstone.
If you feel like you are settling for a design or you have an idea that traditional jewelry stores don’t seem to grasp, stop by and ask us about the custom process. We want to work with you and whatever size wallet you possess. After all, jewelry is our passion and we can’t follow that passion without you.
